What You’re Buying Into

With over 20 years experience, we have developed several beneficial criteria to ensure the success of our entire network. We stand by our promises and have full confidence we can provide you with the support your business needs to flourish.

Income Guarantee

We’re confident that when a new hubby starts, they’ll make the amount of money they need to pay the bills and put food on the table. So much so, we offer an income guarantee to give you and your family peace of mind of cash flow security during the crucial stages of a business start-up phase. *T&Cs apply.

Operational Support

Although you will be running your own business, we offer full Operational support from both Head Office and the wider network. From the first day as a Hubby, a dedicated Field Manager will be available to support you in your ventures to building your business to a true success.

Non-Competing Territories

One of the keys to our Hubbies success is the fact that they do not compete for work. Instead, with clearly defined territories and clear demographic and geographic profiling on each of these regions, Hubbies can share and co-operate the benefit of the work within the network.

Market Leading Innovation

To maintain our strong foothold over the industry, we are constantly innovating ways to improve the processes our Hubbies undertake in a day to day environment. Recent projects include our cloud-based customer management system (Hub e-Connect) and our Admin relief services (Hub e-Admin).

Industry Overview

“According to a report released in May 2014 by market research company IBIS World the Australian local tradesman and handyman industry is set to grow close to $1 billion in five years. “It seems Australians place a lot of value on the humble handyman, with the market for small home repairs and maintenance set to grow to 881.9 million in 2018-19 ……”

The rise in demand is due to:

  • An increased number of Australians who don’t have the time or the expertise to perform these tasks around the home or work place;
  • A rise in the number of households and commercial properties that need to be maintained;
  • Home owners increasing capital expenditure in their houses by renovating and performing maintenance work.

HAH Hoxton Park - Industry Overview

Franchising in Australia equates to $154 billion or 18 per cent of the nation’s GDP, representing some 69,000 workplaces with over 480,000 employees.

Franchising is the only Australian industry sector regulated by a Code of Conduct, administered by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Moreover, franchising provides substantial security.

A disputation level of less than 1 per cent, and a much lower failure rate than going it alone, making franchising more successful than marriage!
Franchise development tends to be driven by consumer demand and already we are seeing increasing trends towards home service providers.

Australians generally aspire to two things: to own their own home, and to be their own boss. These dreams play an integral part in the Australian community, with housing a significant economic indicator, and small business providing opportunities for increased personal wealth and employment for many Australians.

Starting up in small business can be risky, but for those motivated to establish a new business of their own should look to mitigate and reduce the risk by considering franchising. Statistics confirm a markedly increased rate of small business success for franchisees compared with independent business start-ups.

Training and Support

Welcome to training – a very important part of the induction process for our new Hire A Hubby Franchisees.  This training is centred on our Forming Good Habits Program and is designed to get our new Franchisees up and running in their new business, as quickly as possible.

This course is constantly reviewed and improved based on feedback from trainees and Field Managers.

Our training program is delivered online by our industry qualified and experienced professional training manager who has experience in running a successful Hire A Hubby franchise.

Training includes daily face-to-face video chat discussions in a classroom setting as well as self-paced training using our online resources.

The course also includes practical training in one of training centres in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, which is led by one of our workshop trainers.

The course covers the following topics:

Hire A Hubby takes pride in the levels of client service provided by our franchisee network. It is one of the keys to our collective success, since this is largely what sets us apart from other service providers. In this part of the Forming Good Habits Program we go explore the difference between customer and clients and the keys to Excellent Service Delivery.

One of the most important things about running a business is knowing where you want to be and planning how to get there. In this session we provide the tools and techniques to start the business planning process and cover the fundamental skills required to run a business.

Our Marketing Team is constantly developing and reviewing strategies to assist in the creation of work opportunities. We present some of these ideas during the training program and get you started with creating your own marketing plan.

Getting the quote right is one of the keys to success. You will practise creating quotes for a wide range of realistic situations. We review these and discover many of the traps that can cause problems for the inexperienced operator including how to maximise your profit.

You will learn how to use our custom-built system software to produce quotes and invoices, and email these directly to your clients. The system CRM capabilities will allow you to follow up and manage this important part of your business.

Hire A Hubby has carefully positioned itself as a Corporate entity that is compliant with WHS provisions, and capable of taking advantage of the enormous corporate / commercial market for the provision of maintenance services. Our Forming Good Habits Program focuses on the WHS matters that are part of the day to day operations of a typical Franchisee and highlights some of the risks and hazards they can confront. This is particularly valuable to people that have been off the tools for quite some time.

From working with power tools in an environment where there are children and pets running around, to undertaking risk assessments when entering one of our commercial clients or major shopping centres, the Hire A Hubby WHS system will make sure you are ready to start work safely.

You will have the opportunity to demonstrate and practise your handyman skills under guidance in one of our well-equipped training workshops. Here you will have the opportunity to practise implementing the practical aspect of some of your prepared quotes.

The Forming Good Habits Program is then extended into the field by our Operations staff as they monitor and guide your performance.

Income Guarantee

For most people, the biggest leap of faith in transitioning into a new business is the fear of the unknown. Hire A Hubby provides a minimum income guarantee to all new business purchases of up to $125,000 in gross profit. This gives Hubbies and their families the peace of mind and security they need in the early stages of their business.

Our Income Guarantee shows the confidence we have in our business to provide you with the tools you need to succeed. *T&Cs apply.

Hubby Network

Our network boasts more than 300 Hubbies which makes us the biggest Handyman network in the country. It also means there is more support with fellow hubbies, than any other franchisee network. We place strong emphasis on the help and guidance we offer to the overall network.

A Cell Group meeting is a voluntary get-together amongst Franchisees who live and work close to one another. These meetings are a great way to share knowledge on local suppliers, swap information and tips on quoting and follow-up processes with customers, share resources or assist on bigger projects or those where specialised skills are required. Whether you’ve been a hubby for a day, or a decade, Cell Group meetings are a wonderful way to help your fellow hubbies.

Quarterly meetings are a more formal event which is compulsory runs to a formal agenda. This is an occasion to introduce new hubbies to the network, speak with selected suppliers, learn about new tools and products, as well as being brought up to speed with what’s happening within the organisation.

Our hubbies come from all walks of life, read their stories here:

Our Annual Conference

Being a part of the Hubby network means you’ll get to attend the Hire A Hubby Annual National Conference. This is an energetic few days where you’ll meet fellow Hubbies from around the country, members of the Head Office team and a variety of guest speakers.

The agenda is usually set around giving your individual business motivation and inspiration for the year ahead. It’s also a time that Head Office can showcase the changes made to date, as well as the plan for the next 12 months in an open forum.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to network and pick the brains of like minded friends, as well as sharing your success stories. Each year it is in a different location both domestically and internationally, where we can make the most of cultural tours and activities.

In 2018 our Annual National Conference was held on the Gold Coast. Watch some of the highlights.

And here are the highlights from the 2017 Conference in Hobart.

Watch the recap from our 2015 Conference in Uluru.  A unique part of Australia, our Hubbies had time to not only explore this beautiful location, but also take time to reflect on the previous year and their future goals.
