It was a perfect Autumn day – sunny, not too cold or windy, and plenty of eager locals keen to explore the Saturday morning markets at Panania.
New Hubby promotes his business to the locals
Michael Larkin, the owner of Hire A Hubby Panania, decided to participate as a stall holder to promote his handyman business. With his wife and two children keen to help out, they donned the famous magenta polos to help out on the stall.

Having been in the business for just nine months, Michael was uncertain about the merits of running a stall at the markets for a service-based business. However, as the day went by, Michael soon became inundated with plenty of questions and interest from the public.
“At one stage there were people 3 and 4 deep waiting to ask me a question or to book a job,” said Michael, “it started off a little slow, but with a polite ‘Good morning’ to engage with people, gradually we became quite busy. And handing out the magenta Hire A Hubby balloons for the little kids was a big hit. We even had one parent say they had to come and find our stall just to get a balloon because their son had seen another child with one and wanted one too.”
Local business, family run
Michael was also pleasantly surprised at how his own children were willing to get involved in helping out on the day. “As well as my wife, my son and daughter were amazing. They really surprised me. My daughter helped my wife blow up the balloon and lay out the flyers and goodies on the table while my son helped hand out the balloons. He even answered a few questions about the type of work I do while I had to return to my vehicle to get some business cards. He’s definitely got the gift of the gab and I think he’s a little more confident now. ”
Meeting locals a priority
After the crowds finally subsided and it was time to pack down, there was time for reflection on his first market stall as Hire A Hubby Panania. When asked what he got out of it and if he would do it again Michael responded, “Most definitely. It was 100 per cent worth coming down to meet the locals at the markets today. A lot of people didn’t know about Hire A Hubby and the wide range of services we can do around the home. Some had heard of us but didn’t know about Hire A Hubby Panania. Others had never heard of us and were glad they spoke to us. Everyone was keen to learn about what we do and quite a few people wanted to book a job right there and then. It’s been fabulous for getting the Hire A Hubby Panania business out there, and the brand awareness has been fabulous. I’m hoping to get some work out of it and establish strong customer relationships with all of those customers. It’s been great, so great in fact we’re exhausted, but so happy. The kids are keen to do another stall, perhaps in a few months!”
